Why TFP?

Transference Focused Psychotherapy (TFP) is an evidence-based treatment technique originated for Severe Personality Disorders.

tfp - Otto Kernberg

Dr. Otto F. Kernberg

Creator of the TFP

TFP is a highly effective treatment methodology focused on exploring the emotional dynamics and relationship patterns of patients. By training in PFT, you will develop clinical skills in understanding and working with transference, allowing for a deeper and more transformative connection with your patients. This therapy not only enables you to address complex disorders, but also enriches your overall clinical practice, improving your therapeutic outcomes and the quality of your work as a psychotherapist.

TFP FUNDAMENTALS

Fundamental pillars

The treatment of personality disorders under the Transference-Focused Psychotherapy model consists of the following pillars:

Patient explores the experience of self and others through observation of the therapy itself as well as the therapist.

The work focuses on areas such as studies, personal relationships, family, and work (among others) and how to address challenges in a healthy and functional way.

The work addresses therapist-patient interactions in such a way that he/she is able to talk freely about thoughts, feelings, fantasies, in the most frank way possible.

Scientific Research

We base our teaching method on scientific evidence.

Our partnership with SSV Research, a research laboratory for the development of education and mental health, allows us to constantly redesign teaching methods, based on empirical evidence, to enhance the skills and competencies of therapists.

Why go it alone?

Together at Every Step.

Psychotherapy of patients with severe personality disorders is a lonely and difficult job. Difficult both emotionally and cognitively. Our desire is to help you to make it less lonely, by observing real therapeutic processes and, thus, to make your own experience in this House safer. At Instituto TFP Hispanoamerica we strengthen a community of therapists who support each other, discuss cases, face challenges and grow together in an environment of trust and international camaraderie. And, this, supported by the learning of a technique that provides structure and order to the therapeutic process.
