Psychologist and Teacher – Chile
Executive Officer for the ISTFP Board
In the vast world of psychotherapy, there is always a need to innovate, learn and deepen in techniques that allow a more precise and effective approach to different pathologies.
I am Veronica Steiner, and I am pleased to invite you to this program of Initiation in Transference Focused Psychotherapy, offered by our TFP Hispanoamerica Institute.
Our mission is clear: to provide comprehensive training that not only imparts theoretical knowledge, but also practical knowledge, through personalized tutoring and continuous supervision, all within the framework of a community of professionals committed to growth and reflection.
TFP is designed primarily to treat complex personality disorders, such as Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). In this program you will incorporate all the strategies, tactics and skills necessary to navigate the challenges and advanced phases of treatment with TFP.
By joining this program, you not only acquire skills and knowledge. You become part of a community that values evolution, reflection and commitment to excellence in patient care and care.
Who is the target audience?
Training designed for any psychologist, psychiatrist and final year student who wishes to gain insight into TFP for serveral personality disorders and begin accrediting international hours.
For psychology students, a pre-screening interview is required.
Why should I get started in TFP?
Working with patients who present with severe personality disorders or complex pathologies has always been a challenge in the therapeutic setting. These patients often exhibit ingrained patterns of thought, emotion and behavior that are resistant to change, which can lead to feelings of frustration and burnout for the therapist. Many therapeutic techniques, while effective in their own right, can fall short in addressing the depth and breadth of these disorders. Transference-Focused Psychotherapy (TFP) emerges as an alternative to this problem; it is an evidence-based therapy designed specifically to address these complex pathologies.
PFT provides the therapist with a structured yet flexible framework, allowing him/her to delve into the deeper layers of the patient’s mental apparatus, to accurately interpret transferential dynamics and to establish more effective therapeutic interventions.

Inspired by Otto Kernberg’s Structural Theory, this comprehensive training provides professionals with an in-depth understanding of mental apparatus models and the structural organization of borderline pathology. Throughout the seven modules of this program, students will be equipped with key skills, from mastering TFP strategies and tactics, to managing specific clinical challenges and navigating advanced phases of treatment. The training emphasizes the importance of interpretation, countertransference, and transference analysis in the therapeutic process, preparing therapists to establish more effective therapeutic relationships and meet the challenges inherent in treating patients with BPD.
